Artifact and Archive
This plaster caste is the first complete result of a project I completed in the fall of 2020 as a part of AR266 Sculpture II: Artifact and Archive. It was modeled after a curve of an audi wagon’s roof and window joinery. I rendered the 2D curve in chipboard — extruding the angular curve into a mobile plane. I then attempted to replicate the plane in clay and continued the curves down until the met and formed a round base. I cast the form in wax and plaster. I fell in love with the shadows and continuity that this medium offered.
The second result was a study of this abstract form, or artifact, into an experimentation of an archival host: in my case, a study of an architectural space.
